Vorsprung Smashpot V2 Coil Conversion Kit

Fork upgrade · $600 for self-install · $800 installed during Hyperformance Service (discounted from $250 to $200 when combined with upgrade)

The Vorsprung Smashpot V2 is a comprehensive coil conversion system designed for both single crown and dual crown suspension forks. It replaces the factory air spring assembly with a tunable coil system that delivers unmatched consistency, support, and traction—regardless of conditions, terrain, or rider weight.

Unlike air springs, which rely on seals and air pressure that can fluctuate with temperature and altitude, the Smashpot V2 provides a fixed, reliable spring curve. This results in a highly responsive ride feel with zero stiction, precise midstroke control, and a composed, bottomless end stroke—even under heavy hits or sustained compressions.

Now refined in its second generation, the Smashpot V2 features an improved hydraulic bottom-out assembly and revised internals for smoother end-stroke control and reduced maintenance. Travel is internally adjustable in 10mm increments, with fork-specific compatibility for travel ranges up to 180mm or more depending on the model. Vorsprung supports a broad range of forks including Fox (36, 38, 40), RockShox (Lyrik, Zeb, Boxxer), Marzocchi (Z1, 58), Öhlins RXF, and more.

Spring rates are available in 11 distinct steps, covering riders from approximately 45kg to 125kg. The system is completely modular and rebuildable, allowing future travel changes or transfers between forks with minimal additional parts (such as a new top cap or foot stud).

Key Features:

  • Suitable for both single and dual crown forks (including downhill forks)

  • 11 coil spring rates available in 5lb or 25lb increments depending on weight range

  • Adjustable travel (internally spaced) from 130mm to 180mm+ depending on fork

  • Unique hydraulic bottom-out system for progressive control without harshness

  • Fully sealed coil spring design—no tokens, no air pressure tuning

  • Compatible with a wide range of forks including Fox 36/38/40, RockShox Zeb/Lyrik/Boxxer, Marzocchi Z1/58, Öhlins RXF, and more

  • Weight increase of approx. 250g–450g depending on spring and fork configuration

  • Easy to install at home with basic tools and Vorsprung's detailed installation guide

  • Serviceable and transferable between forks with minimal additional cost

The Smashpot V2 is available for $600 as a standalone kit for self-installation, or $800 installed during a Hyperformance Service (normally $250, discounted to $200 when combined with this upgrade).

Smashpot V1 Note:

The original Smashpot V1 remains fully supported for spares and servicing, but complete kits are only available while current stock lasts and cannot be reordered.

Vorsprung Secus Air Spring Upgrade

Fork upgrade · $550 for self-install · $750 installed during Hyperformance Service (discounted from $250 to $200 when combined with upgrade)

The Vorsprung Secus is a comprehensive air spring system designed to drastically improve the ride characteristics of modern suspension forks. By modifying the spring curve, increasing negative air volume, and enhancing midstroke support, the Secus delivers coil-like sensitivity and compliance in the first two-thirds of travel while preserving the bottom-out resistance and tuning flexibility of air suspension.

This upgrade offers significant improvements in small bump response, traction, and overall predictability, particularly for riders who previously struggled to use full travel or maintain support during compressions. The Secus is ideal for those seeking a more planted, controlled front-end feel across demanding terrain, without the added weight of a coil system.

Key features:

  • Dramatically enlarged negative air chamber for improved initial sensitivity and small bump compliance

  • Proprietary Midstroke Support Valve (MSV) increases predictability and midstroke support

  • Reduced lower leg pneumatic ramping allows lighter riders to use full travel more easily

  • Fully utilises fork travel in both directions – top-out and bottom-out control

  • Compatible with standard volume spacers for end-stroke progression tuning

  • Improved lubrication through increased lower leg oil volume

  • Lightweight design – adds approximately 130g

  • Simple setup process: inflate, cycle fork, press MSV button, ride

  • Compatible with a wide range of modern forks including Fox 36/38 and RockShox Pike, Lyrik, ZEB (full list on Vorsprung site)

Vorsprung Luftkappe Air Piston

Fork upgrade · $150–195 for self-install · $355–400 installed during Hyperformance Service (discounted from $250 to $200 when combined with upgrade)

The Luftkappe is a highly effective air spring upgrade designed to significantly improve small bump sensitivity, support, and mid-stroke control in your front suspension. Developed by Vorsprung Suspension, the Luftkappe increases the negative air volume in your fork, reducing the initial spring rate and improving small bump compliance without compromising mid-to-end stroke performance. It offers a coil-like feel through the early travel while maintaining the progressive ramp and bottom-out resistance of an air spring.

Unlike volume spacers, which only affect the end stroke, the Luftkappe transforms the overall shape of the spring curve, giving you more support where you need it and more suppleness where you don’t. This upgrade is ideal for riders chasing comfort, traction, and consistency over unpredictable terrain.

Key Features

  • Larger negative air chamber for smoother initial stroke

  • Improved mid-stroke support and cornering stability

  • Reduced hand and arm fatigue on long descents

  • More consistent ride feel across different air pressures

  • Coil-like performance without coil weight

  • Compatible with Bottomless Tokens (RockShox) or volume spacers (Fox)

  • Can be installed by the rider with basic tools (optional 10mm shaft clamps available)

Compatibility

Compatible with a wide range of air-sprung forks from Fox and RockShox:

  • Fox FLOAT series: 34, 36, and 38 models with air springs from 2014 onward (excludes models with GripX or integrated air-damper assemblies)

  • RockShox: Pike, Lyrik, and Yari (Solo Air and DebonAir, 2014–2022) — not compatible with Charger 3-based assemblies

Installation requires disassembly of the air spring side. Most users with basic mechanical skills can install it themselves, or it can be added to your next Hyperformance Service for a fully integrated upgrade.

Vorsprung Fractive Tuning System

Fork upgrade · $130 for self-install · $325 installed during Hyperformance Service (discounted from $250 to $200 when combined with upgrade)

The Fractive Tuning System is a compression damper piston upgrade for Fox forks using FIT4 dampers from 2020 or earlier, designed to significantly improve performance, adjustability, and rider-specific support. The Fractive kit replaces the stock compression piston with a high-performance valving assembly tailored to your weight, riding style, and preferences.

Once installed, your fork's three-position lever is converted into a true high-speed compression (HSC) adjuster, while the low-speed compression (LSC) knob becomes more effective and usable across its full range. This transforms the damper into a much more precise and responsive system, with enhanced tuning capability and ride feel.

Fractive is especially valuable for riders who feel that the stock FIT4 damper lacks support, tuneability, or responsiveness on rough or aggressive terrain. Combined with Vorsprung's online tune calculator and setup guide, it offers a major upgrade for anyone running a compatible Fox fork.

Key features:

  • Rider-specific valving matched via Vorsprung's online tune tool

  • Converts 3-position lever into usable HSC adjuster

  • Vastly improves the range and effectiveness of LSC damping

  • Linear valving for better compliance and control without added harshness

  • Can be installed DIY or in-house with a full Hyperformance Service

  • Compatible with Vorsprung Luftkappe air piston upgrades

  • Available for Fox forks with 2020 or earlier FIT4 dampers (Factory Series only)

For full compatibility details and tuning support, visit Vorsprung’s website or contact us to confirm suitability for your setup.

Custom Damper Tuning & Valving

Shock or fork upgrade · Variable pricing – labour from $35 to $150 (plus applicable service cost)

For riders chasing highly individualised suspension performance, custom damper tuning offers a more refined approach to support, compliance, and control. This process involves internal reconfiguration of the compression and/or rebound circuits, as well as component-level upgrades (e.g. base valve assemblies, shim stacks, IFP changes) where applicable.

Tuning is only recommended for experienced or performance-focused riders who have spent considerable time on their current suspension setup. Without a solid baseline, it becomes difficult to determine what changes will deliver meaningful improvement. We typically advise against revalving brand-new forks or shocks unless the rider already has a strong reference point and specific goals in mind.

Not all dampers are reconfigurable, and tuneability depends heavily on brand, model, and production year. Riders within the average weight range (65–100 kg) generally benefit more from air spring or setup changes, as many stock tunes are already optimised for this segment. Revalving becomes more relevant for riders outside this range, those with highly specific preferences, or elite-level racers.

This service is available in-house only and can be performed on select Fox, RockShox, Öhlins, Vorsprung, DVO, and Cane Creek models. Labour costs range from $35 to $150 on top of a Factory or Hyperformance Service, depending on the complexity and scope of the work.

For model-specific availability and recommendations, please contact us with your bike, suspension model, rider weight, and goals.
